Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of SpeakLisboa, a language-learning application focused on European Portuguese.
By downloading, accessing, or using SpeakLisboa, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding agreement under applicable law to use SpeakLisboa. If you are under the age required in your jurisdiction, you may use the app only with appropriate permission from a parent or legal guardian.
2. The Service
SpeakLisboa provides language-learning features such as:
- AI-powered chat and conversation practice
- Vocabulary tools
- Practice games and missions
- Progress tracking
- Subscription-based premium features
We may change, improve, limit, or discontinue features at any time.
3. Accounts
You may need to create an account to use some features.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Be responsible for activity under your account
- Notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for the service or other users.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
Some features of SpeakLisboa may require a paid subscription.
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple using your App Store account
- Pricing, billing periods, trials, and renewal terms are shown before purchase
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through Apple at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings
We do not control Apple’s billing systems and are not responsible for billing issues handled by Apple.
5. Free and Paid Access
SpeakLisboa may offer a free tier with usage limits and a paid tier with expanded access. We may change those limits, features, or entitlements over time.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or harmful purposes
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, subscription restrictions, or security protections
- Reverse engineer, scrape, disrupt, or interfere with the app or its infrastructure
- Upload or send content that is illegal, infringing, abusive, hateful, harassing, or malicious
- Use automated means to access the app in a way that harms the service or other users
We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you have violated these Terms.
7. AI-Generated Content
You understand and agree that:
- AI output may not always be accurate or appropriate
- AI output is provided for general language-learning purposes only
- You should not rely on SpeakLisboa for legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice
8. Intellectual Property
SpeakLisboa, including its design, branding, software, text, graphics, and content, is owned by or licensed to SpeakLisboa and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, distribute, modify, sell, sublicense, or exploit the app except as permitted by law or with our written permission.
9. User Content
You retain rights to the content you submit, to the extent permitted by law. By using the app, you grant us a limited right to process your content as necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the service.
You are responsible for the content you submit.
10. Privacy
Your use of SpeakLisboa is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
11. Termination and Account Deletion
You may stop using the app at any time. If you created an account, you may request deletion through the in-app deletion flow where available.
We may suspend or terminate your access if:
- You violate these Terms
- We are required to do so by law
- Continued access creates legal, technical, or security risk
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute-related sections.
12. Disclaimers
SpeakLisboa is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the app will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpeakLisboa and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising out of or related to your use of the app.
If applicable law does not allow certain limitations, some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
14. Governing Law
To the extent permitted by applicable law, these Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict of law principles. This does not deprive consumers of any mandatory protections under the law of their country of residence.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use of the app after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
